Unit 4: Screen Time and
the Developing Brain
In this module, students will focus on a “science and society” topic. Students will engage in reading compelling informational texts about adolescent brain development and the effects of entertainment screen time on the brain. Students will build their background knowledge about adolescent brain development in general and then write a position paper in which they take a clear stance on screen time and the developing brain.
Text Set
The unit is composed of informational texts surrounding technology and its impacts on the adolescent brain.
